Welcome! Catawampus Counseling is a radically relational, pleasure-positive, and liberation-driven counseling and sex education practice serving the greater South.

With a focus on addressing sexual and relational health issues, Catawampus Counseling helps folks navigate conflict, deepen connections, and create more ease within their relationships.

About me

Hi! I’m Eden, MFT (he/they). I am a multi-hyphenate professional who works as a therapist, peer supporter, writer, doula, sex educator, consultant, and organizer.

Born and raised in the South, I established Catawampus Counseling with the hopes of increasing access to mental and sexual health care services for LGBTQIA+ identified folks living in this region. I believe relational support and accurate sex education are powerful tools that everyone has a right to access.

In 2021 I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology from the College of Charleston and graduated with my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy, with a concentration in Sex Therapy, from Thomas Jefferson University in 2023. I am currently pursuing my licensure as therapist in North Carolina.

As a professional, I strive to bring a warm, direct, and collaborative approach to my work. I incorporate Narrative, Experiential, somatic, and culturally relevant interventions in sessions with folks. The lens I work from utilizes feminist theory, liberation psychology, principles of harm reduction, and is informed by my lived experience as a white, autistic, asexual, kinky, ex-catholic, small and temporarily able bodied transmasculine person. I aim to leverage the privileges I hold as a white settler and deepen the relationship between theory and practice in all areas of my life by continuing to engage in professional development and education. In an effort to remain accountable to my community, feedback around my efforts to do so are welcomed.

When I am not working I can be found communing with nature, hosting sex ed trivia nights at my local dive bar, tending to the community garden, floating in the pool, reading, or sharing snacks with my pets.

  • Body doubling is the practice of having a present and energetically focused person share space with someone struggling with certain tasks.

Many neurodivergent people find this to be a low-stakes, supportive way of starting, staying focused on, or completing self managed tasks such as household chores, filling out paperwork, booking appointments over the phone, and more.

Virtual body doubling may be helpful if you struggle to self-manage any of the above tasks. You don’t have to manage alone!

  • Navigating abortion services in the South can feel mystifying, isolating, or overwhelming. I believe in co-creating a future where abortion is treated as an affirming and necessary component of community health care. As a trained abortion doula I am available to support you before, during, and after an abortion, emotionally, educationally, and physically when possible.

  • The South as a region is home to many marginalized people who do not have access to comprehensive mental, sexual, and relational health services. As the Blackest and most LGBTQIA+ identifying region, the need for liberatory and non-pathologizing services only grows in a time of increased criminalization, oppression, and gender based violence. People in the South deserve care that understands this broader context and remains committed to centering their humanity. As someone born and raised in this region, I understand intimately that no one should have to leave the place they call home to get the care they need.
